UHURU

Dar es Salaam · operating worldwide · in technology since 2007

We build the systems
that run your operation.

Uhuru is a Tanzanian technology company with two temperaments. Uhurunet is the corporate arm: bespoke operational systems, hard infrastructure run as one estate across five countries, and AI put to real work under human control. Uhurulabs is the exploratory arm: drones we design and print, local AI models we benchmark, open data we publish. The lab keeps the field sharp. The field keeps the lab honest.

What we build Talk to us

Two pillars, one company

We do two big things well, and they reinforce each other. Corporate systems and infrastructure is where we are putting our weight now. Drones, GIS and geospatial data is where much of Africa met us first, and it is still core.

We are a bridge

Decades of working across sectors and continents teach you one thing above all: how to translate. We have worked in agriculture, mining, telecoms, health, government, construction and finance, with one-person operations and with multinationals. We have sat with a driver at a weighbridge and briefed at the presidential level, and learned to speak to each in the language that lands.

We are also a bridge between worlds. Our roots run through Finland, the United Kingdom and a decade with the World Bank, and back home to Dar es Salaam; our work has taken us to India, the Gulf and the United States. That makes us a natural interpreter between Western technology and African reality, able to bring in what genuinely helps and leave behind what does not fit. Technology has to be viable in Africa, which means it has to be viable in a business sense.

Real AI. Self-custody. From Africa.

We make genuine use of AI and autonomous agents, and we do it under our own mantra: self-custody of systems and data. As much as possible, we host and develop our own, in resource-strapped Africa and in the middle of a global storage and memory drought. That constraint is not a handicap. It is proof we are on top of the ball.

Agents that ship

In production today: an AI assistant that reads a support ticket, pulls the linked business data, and writes the complete work order, while a human still runs the change. Real work, hard guardrails.

Data stays home

Client data on client-controlled storage. Our own vault, monitoring and collaboration platform, self-hosted. The brain can be a frontier model or a local one, swapped without losing a thing.

Measured, not hyped

We run and benchmark local models and publish the hard numbers on what modest hardware can really do. Knowing that is the difference between AI that ships and AI that stalls.
